I just went for a walk to the ocean front in George Town with my husky Aipa (which means companion in Eskimo language … a great companion she is!) At first there was a bit of wind and then it suddenly picked up. Downtown is almost completely deserted with only a few people and cars.
I took two videos at the ocean front. Note that in the 1st one I say “9am local time, 11am NY time”. That is incorrect, its 10 local, 11 NY time.
A few minutes later, I made a second one … the weather was changing!!!
Here is the police station all shuttered up and with the hurricane warning flags
The port is usually full of maritime containers and boats. Totally empty now.
Here you can see the latest projection. It is now slightly north, but not much. Looks like it will pass between Grand Cayman and the sister islands now.

Thank you for the videos, Micho!
I’ll cross fingers for you.
Our thoughts are with everyone on the island.
My husband and I are keeping all on the island in our prayers. Cayman is our favorite place. We have been every year for the past 8 years (except the year following Ivan).
Thanks for your website and all of the videos and pictures.
Stay Safe.
Very nice blog, I am impressed bro. I hope you stay safe. If you need anything post it and I will do my best to work it from this end. What type of internet and electricity are you running? Do you have any back up power?
Good Luck! Stay Strong!

Thanks for all of your comments! I really appreciate it. Looks like we will get out relatively easy from this one.
@David
Internet is DSL. For power, we are still online with the utility. The office here has a diesel generator, but not sure if they will turn it on. We shall see 🙂
