Julie was going to get the wash from the machine tonight when I heard a shriek! I figured she saw a roach or something like that (we see one once in a while inside, although quite rare since she keeps the place really clean) But this time it was different … that shriek was nothing like I had ever heard 🙁
So I went to see and saw this … good lord!!!! I had heard about the tiger centipedes, but never seen one. So before exterminating this critter, I threw my car keys next to it for perspective and got the camera!
Amazingly, some web sites say that people keep these as pets and that they do bite, although not venomous! Not a pet for me thats for sure.
So, who again wants to visit us and stay with us? 😉

Allo,
Yves
Hey Micho, I am moving to Cayman next month and have been keeping an eye on your blog, it’s great! But between this and the scary crabs I’m not sure I want to go anymore!!! Any spiders?!
Christine
@Yves
Rien! On pensait avoir au minimum une grosse journée de pluie dimanche, mais finalement on a même pas eu une goutte de pluie!
@Christine
Thanks for your post! 🙂 For the crabs, they split when they see you, so no need to worry about those. For the rest of the critters, if you live near the beach or in town say in a Condo, you should see significantly less bugs/animals. We live near a field, so we obviously see more “wildlife”. Just keep your place really clean to keep the roaches away and keep anything sweet or not in a really well sealed container in the fridge and you should be OK. There are spiders, but we only see one once in while. They are bigger than in Canada, but not all that much more.
Thanks for reading 🙂 I’m always happy to get comments/questions!
Hi Micho!
It would be interesting if you write something about night life in Grand Cayman.
Night clubs, pubs, discos etc…
I heard that Next Level club is pretty good.
Have you been there.
I am from Toronto actually. I was in Montreal many times. So you could compare with Montrael and I’ll understand you.
Thank you.
Easy … I have not been to a bar/club in 20 months here. My wife & I have “been there, done that” in our University years! Sorry 😉
Why didn’t you just pick it up and put it outside? It has as much a right to live here as you do! Actually, probably more!
Hi Martin,
Someone at my office was stung by one of these and actually had to go to the hospital. 🙁 I always put frogs & small lizards back out, but did not want to take a chance with this one.
Cheers
Micho
