It is now morning in Cayman and Hurricane Dean has been here for a while. The peak is expected around 10am-noon. So far it has been very windy but not as much as expected. Also, as suprisingly, there has been very little rain, but that will probably change soon.
There are some small trees down and a debris in the roads. A curfew was imposed last night at 10pm and is still in force so we cannot go out. There are also reports of flooding due to the storm surge in some areas of the island.
Glad to see that Hurricane Dean passed without much incident (i hope)
I’m glad I found your blog, it is fascinating. Particularly as me and my wife are moving to Grand Cayman in October!!
I think your blog will be invaluable to us as we prepare.
I hope you find everything okay back at your house
Alistair,
Where do you live right now? Feel free to email me later on at micho @ micho . org (without spaces) if you have any questions about Cayman. We can give you lots of advice about the place. Winds are now strong, but it is obvious its not as bad as we originally though. Cheers
