After many tries, we finally bought a car … online via the auction process I described a about 4-5 weeks ago. If you have not read about how we can buy a car via the internet, click on “February” (right menu) and then on “next page” at the bottom. Check out the post “Leap of fait”. This purchase is indeed a leap of faith ; buying a car with two small pictures and a report all in Japanese.
Here is the car we “won”. It should be here in 5-6 weeks by boat from Japan. Its a 2002 Honda CRV with all the bells & whistles. We really wanted a white one just like this one, so I am quite pleased.

I am in Turks & Caicos right now, but the weather is lowsy. If it gets nice before I leave I will take some pictures and post them.
Very nice looking car; congratulations. I hope everything works out well with it and that you’ll both enjoy driving it. Nothing like a Honda!
Thanks! Cant wait to get it. It will be great for going to the beach with the dog and for when guests come over with lots of luggage. Imaging picking friends (and their luggage)up at the airport with a small Toyota Yaris! haha
Cool! I like it.
The only fear (in my mind) is the right-side wheel :-O Br-r-r-r … But I’m petty sure it takes a week to get experienced with 😉
Take care,
Orline
..et pour ceux qui n’ont pas le keyboard francisé – le “é” est Alt-130 😉
encore moi – Orline
Salut Orline,
Many thanks for your post! Julie & I are really happy that you are reading our blog. We really hope that you can make it down to Cayman sometime ; we would love to see you.
For the Right hand drive CRV ; quite honestly (with our rental car), it took me maybe 1 day to get used to it ; its quite easy. You should try it ; its fun! 🙂 Driving a left hand drive here in Cayman (or any UK related country) is actually quite dangerous since you dont see oncoming traffic as well.
Cheers
Micho & Julie
I’m a bit late on this post, but in response to your comment on March 27th I have this to say: What’s wrong with a Toyota Yaris?!?
haha
I knew you would pick up on that. Yaris is fine, but not practical picking up people with 3-4 large suitcases, dont you agree? As a second car though, a Yaris-like car would be the car of choice.
