It was Julie&#8217;s friend Genevieve&#8217;s last full day with us so we figured it was a great way to finish up her vacation.\u00a0 Before heading out to Rum Point, Gen &#038; I went to Eden Rock (in Georgetown) for a quick\u00a0snorkel.\u00a0 Eden Rock is like\u00a0&#8220;jumping into an\u00a0aqurium&#8221; ; there are loads of fish and they are not afraid of humans.\u00a0 However,\u00a0many humans are afraid of the\u00a0resident familiy of Tarpons.\u00a0 These Tarpons\u00a0vary from\u00a03.5 &#8211;\u00a05 ft in lengh and not very pretty.\u00a0 They are HUGE though and could easily be mistaken for a shark by someone who is not familiar with\u00a0the local\u00a0fish.\u00a0 Tarpons are totally harmeless though.\u00a0 Its amazing to\u00a0be able to swim up close &#038; personal with these giants\u00a0(you can easily get to within 2 feet of them)<\/p>\n<p>After the snorkel, we went back to\u00a0Savannah (our house) to pick up Julie &#038;\u00a0drive to Rum Point.\u00a0 Run point is about a 35 minute drive from where we live. \u00a0 Rum Point is on the north side of Cayman, on the eastern side of the Sound (the Sound being the large U shaped bay which eats up about 1\/3 of the islands surface.<\/p>\n<p>At Rum point there beach chairs, a white sandy beach, shade,\u00a0hamacks &#038; the most amazing blue turquoise water you will every see.\u00a0 The picture at the top of this page\u00a0(the pier ; is at Rum Point)\u00a0 Julie &#038; I have been there quite a few times now and are always amazed by this place. Anyone who comes to visit us will for sure want to spend at least half a day here.\u00a0 Its a great place to swim, snorkel, enjoy a Fish &#038; chips at the\u00a0outdoor restaurant\u00a0or just read a book &#038; take it easy.
