After Gustav and the flurry of posts to this blog, its been a nice few days to take it easy and focus on my job, not a looming hurricane. Thanks again for all the messages that i received and posts to this blog. It was great to hears from so many of you.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane looming eh?\u00a0 Well, it just so happens that Hurricane Ike just became a Category 3 in the Atlantic.\u00a0 It does not look as if it will come to Cayman, however, 5-day forecasts have it <em>possibly <\/em>giving us rain this week-end.\u00a0 Great, another week-end indoors \ud83d\ude41\u00a0\u00a0 Oh well, life in the Caribbean.\u00a0 I was supposed to do my open-water diving certification last week-end, that was canceled.\u00a0 Lets hope I can do it this week-end.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/234613w_ike2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-609\" title=\"234613w_ike2\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/234613w_ike2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/234613w_ike2.gif 500w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/234613w_ike2-300x240.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In one of my posts early in the Gustave episode, I showed a picture (see &#8220;Hurricane Gustav &#8211; Update 8&#8221;) of a mosquito plane that is used here in Grand Cayman.\u00a0 These planes distribute mosquito stuff to control the populations.\u00a0 Here is a video that shows just how low they fly. They only fly at night (when the mosquitoes are out), but it still gives you an idea of how low they fly.\u00a0 On one occasion, the plane flew so low and directly above our house that it light up our whole living room.<\/p>\n<p>I am no aviation specialist, but I would be very surprised if he was flying a lot above 100ft.\u00a0 At one point on them movie, you can\u00a0 see that when he is on the second pass, he flies behind a 2-story house and disappears.\u00a0 That&#8217;s low!<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"350\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/4Hh3q-Bh-As\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"350\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/4Hh3q-Bh-As\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>That guy does have a cool job \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone &#8230; Wow, that was intense!
