{"id":424,"date":"2008-06-27T22:09:45","date_gmt":"2008-06-28T03:09:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=424"},"modified":"2010-04-17T19:27:08","modified_gmt":"2010-04-18T00:27:08","slug":"lots-of-travel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=424","title":{"rendered":"Lots of travel!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Part of living in the Caribbean is traveling.\u00a0 Since we are on a small island, that means jumping on a plane and going to the USA or elsewhere.\u00a0 Sometimes its for business, sometimes for pleasure.\u00a0 I know many people that simply jump on a plane each long week-end and go to Miami, Atlanta or NY for shopping. Anything to get off &#8220;the rock&#8221; as many expats call Cayman. \u00a0 Thankfully Cayman is only a 1h flight from Miami ; almost like in my days of Montreal-Toronto trips.<\/p>\n<p>On a recent trip to Miami, I had the opportunity to go up to the heliport where the final scene of the season (2007 season) in CSI:Miami was shot.\u00a0 Here is the picture of Horatio Caine on top of that building for fans of the show.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5704.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-428\" title=\"img_5704\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5704.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5704.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5704-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here I am on that same spot:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5582.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-426\" title=\"img_5582\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5582.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5582.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5582-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 360 degree view of the whole Miami area &amp; the ocean was amazing!\u00a0 Its quite rare to be able to have such an unobstructed view so high up.\u00a0 It was also very windy up there (notice my tie) and probably a great place to get a nasty sunburn in a hurry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5597.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-427\" title=\"img_5597\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5597.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5597.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5597-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the Miami trip, I headed off to London.\u00a0 Upon landing at Heathrow, I got to see the plane I had been hoping to spot : The new Airbus A380.\u00a0 Notice that it is right next to an A340 which is definitely not a small aircraft.\u00a0 The A380 is noticeably larger with its double deck.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5688.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-429\" title=\"img_5688\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5688.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5688.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5688-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On to London and the ever popular Tower Bridge and the HMS Belfast in the front.\u00a0\u00a0 On the day I had in London (I was there on training) it was windy &amp; cold.\u00a0 Thank goodness I put a thick sweater in my luggage before leaving Cayman!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5711.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-430\" title=\"img_5711\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5711.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5711.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5711-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ever since I saw the movie &#8220;a good year&#8221; with Russel Crowe a few months ago, I had been looking forward to seeing this landmark; The Gherkin as the locals call it. (which is a type of pickle) It is virtually all glass and is very spectacular to see.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5720.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-431\" title=\"img_5720\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5720.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/img_5720-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the trip home.\u00a0 A 9h flight via Miami. Here is lovely picture I took of the massive wing on this British Airways Boeing 747.
