It only took me 10 years.\u00a0 Quite pathetic I know considering its only about 25 minutes away by plane. The main attraction in Cayman Brac, which is one of the two &#8220;sister islands&#8221; is The Bluff.\u00a0 The Bluff is essentially about 1\/2 of the island that is elevated and at the far end of the island is a 140ft cliff into the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>So arrival in Cayman Brac at the quite small but nice airport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3513\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3513\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3513\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_103423.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_103423.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_103423-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon driving around, I saw right away that this place was different from Grand Cayman.\u00a0 If you have been to Grand Cayman&#8217;s East End, driving around the Brac is a very similar experience.\u00a0 Here the locals painted their palm trees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3514\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3514\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3514\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_115527.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_115527.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_115527-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Julie agrees with this sign \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3515\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3515\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3515\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_121455.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_121455.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_121455-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of you may remember my posts from November 2008 where Hurricane Paloma appeared out of nowhere, south of the islands.\u00a0 Well, that Hurricane hit the Brac as a Category-4 and although much has been rebuilt, there are still signs &amp; scars around from that storm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3517\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3517\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3517\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_143426.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_143426.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_20171210_143426-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This odd house likely did quite well in that storm. What you are looking at is the eastern part of the island where it is a 140ft cliff.\u00a0 Back towards the other end, you can see on each side, at one point the Bluff retreats inland, which is where the caves can be found.\u00a0 This is the most eastern part of the Cayman Islands and closest to Jamaica which is only a hundred and fifty miles or so away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3512\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3512\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3512\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/download.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/download-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/download-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is Long beach.\u00a0 If you look at the picture above, this picture below was taken from the beach you see on the right side. You can see there is a road in the middle. At one point she stood up and we could see the egg.\u00a0 Not long enough to get a picture though. I dont know what speeds they were, but I can easily imagine they were close to tropical storm force.\u00a0 What was amazing is that it was constant.\u00a0 As you will see, I had trouble holding the camera still.\u00a0 \u00a0If you feel for some of the footage I was a bit close to the edge, I had a long selfie stick so was not all that close. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Note the nesting Boobie bird in early part of the video.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5TiPm35bBtM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In closing, if you are in Cayman and have an extra day or so, Cayman Brac is well worth the trip.
