{"id":3424,"date":"2017-09-05T20:36:05","date_gmt":"2017-09-06T01:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3424"},"modified":"2024-11-18T09:22:31","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T14:22:31","slug":"hurricane-irma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3424","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane Irma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure you have heard about Hurricane Irma. \u00a0 As of typing, Antigua, St-Kitts, Anguilla &amp; Virgin Islands are about to get a beating by this massive Category 5 storm. I cannot stress enough how bad a Category 5 storm can be. Its been a few years since I have even spoken about a hurricane &#8211; that was nice. As a reminder, here is a visual depiction of the hurricane categories.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3434\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3434\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3434\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ssf.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"339\" height=\"463\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ssf.jpg 339w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ssf-220x300.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 339px) 100vw, 339px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, anything category 3-4-5 is no joke!<\/p>\n<p>Ok the good news first: The Cayman Islands, minus some rain this coming week-end should spared, unless some unexpected turn happens soon. \u00a0However, the general consensus of forecasts are for it to continue going north-west towards Puerto Rico, the Turks &amp; Caicos Islands, Bahamas and then possibly Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Map is below &#8211; Cayman is, as of right now out of the danger zone. \u00a0(see red arrow &#8211; lower left)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3426\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3426\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3426\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/map-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"621\" height=\"419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/map-1.jpg 724w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/map-1-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bad news: My friends in \u00a0the BVI, USVI will have a really bad day Wednesday. \u00a0So is the island of St-Kitts which was the subject of my last post. \u00a0 Anegada in the BVI, \u00a0which is the last post on this page, will also get a beating. \u00a0It is low lying and has been completely evacuated. \u00a0 \u00a0I have a really bad feeling about this system ; I am genuinely worried. \u00a0Another reason I am worried: I am right now in the Turks &amp; Caicos Islands &#8211; see blue arrow. \u00a0Ooops! \u00a0So I was supposed to be here all week till Saturday and on the smaller island of Grand Turk.
