{"id":3143,"date":"2016-07-24T09:13:18","date_gmt":"2016-07-24T14:13:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3143"},"modified":"2016-07-24T09:13:18","modified_gmt":"2016-07-24T14:13:18","slug":"great-diving-at-macabuca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3143","title":{"rendered":"Great diving at Macabuca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of everyone&#8217;s favorite shore dive sites on Grand Cayman is Macabuca. \u00a0When I say shore dive, it means where you can simply jump in the water and start diving &#8211; no boat required. \u00a0Macabuca is a dive operation and restaurant in West Bay, close to the Turtle Farm.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after getting into the water and once we were 60-70ft down, I was able to get this cool shot of a boat overhead. \u00a0It always amazes me how sound travels in water &#8211; it is loud and clear. \u00a0But its also very difficult, compared to outside of water, to locate where the sound comes from.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3144\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3144\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3144\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1562.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM162GOPRO\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1562.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1562-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The highlight of the dive was no doubt the friendly turtle we encountered. \u00a0The lovely turtle swam slowly and gracefully with us for a few minutes. \u00a0Was not afraid of us at all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3146\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3146\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3146\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1599.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM162GOPRO\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1599.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1599-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here you can see how close to us it was &#8211; great\u00a0experience. \u00a0Such a lovely animal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3147\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3147\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3147\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1604.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM162GOPRO\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1604.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1604-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some nice looking coral and formations. \u00a0The pictures do not do justice &#8211; they are much more colorful, less &#8220;green&#8221; than they look here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3148\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3148\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3148\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1637.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM162GOPRO\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1637.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/GOPR1637-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course &#8211; a diving selfie is required! \u00a0This picture attests to the clarity of the water.
