{"id":3116,"date":"2016-05-24T21:41:26","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T02:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3116"},"modified":"2024-10-10T18:09:20","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T23:09:20","slug":"virgin-gorda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3116","title":{"rendered":"Virgin Gorda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently had some travel to the British Virgin Islands &#8211; or BVI as many people call them. \u00a0I generally go to the BVI 1-2x per year for work and usually do not stay the week-end. \u00a0This time, due to some scheduling issues, I spent a week there which included a week-end. \u00a0On the Saturday, I made my way to the island of Virgin Gorda which is a short boat ride away. \u00a0Julie &amp; I have been twice before quite a few years ago. \u00a0We loved it and I was eager to go back. \u00a0 The BVI are very mountainous, so a nice change of pace from Cayman.<\/p>\n<p>One of the first views I got to enjoy ; Savannah Bay. \u00a0 Makes for great pictures. As you can see, Virgin Gorda is not very developed. I am told there are +-5,000 residents.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3124\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_20160514_104657.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160514_104657\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_20160514_104657.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_20160514_104657-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now for the wiew from one of the highest peaks. Wow<\/p>\n<p>The island to the far left is Richard Branson&#8217;s Necker Island. \u00a0The small one in the very middle, behind the larger one, is Eustasia. \u00a0Unconfirmed reports say that Larry Page, one of the two founders of Google is the owner. \u00a0Whoever it is, they sure have a lovely spot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3119\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1374.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1374\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1374.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1374-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next up is The Baths &#8211; one of Julie&#8217;s favorite spots ever. The Baths is a section of Virgin Gorda that is littered with massive granite boulders. \u00a0Some of these boulders are the size of apartment buildings &#8211; massive. \u00a0Some theories say they were left here during the ice age. \u00a0Whatever it was, it sure made for a spectacular place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3120\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3120\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3120\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1412.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1412\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1412.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1412-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is probably the most photographed place &#8211; an inner cavern with nice shallow water. Any Google search for The Baths will have you looking almost immediately at a very similar picture as the one below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3121\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3121\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3121\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1420.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1420\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1420.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_1420-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the the more secluded beaches ; Devil&#8217;s Bay.
