Bodden tabled a motion to render many of Cayman beaches inaccessible \u00a0to snorkelers. \u00a0This is due to recent damage to coral reefs, notably by a Cruise ship and also by a luxury yacht. \u00a0It is believed that further damage can be avoided by limiting snorkeling activity at some of the main snorkeling areas.<\/p>\n<p>Signs were quickly put up. \u00a0Here we can see one at Eden Rock. \u00a0When I went, the notice did seem to get little respect since there were plenty of people snorkeling. \u00a0As of right now, I am told that people will get a warning, no fines are being issued in the first weeks. \u00a0Fines will be in the 50 Cayman Pesos range for the first offence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3112\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3112\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3112\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle.jpg\" alt=\"snorkle\" width=\"480\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle.jpg 594w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle-300x216.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the sign at Spotts beach &#8211; my favorite spot to snorkel with the turtles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3113\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3113\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3113\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle2.jpg\" alt=\"snorkle2\" width=\"480\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle2.jpg 609w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/snorkle2-300x222.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So there you have it! \u00a0But there is some good news from all of this. \u00a0 There is an extraordinary legislative assembly hearing soon. \u00a0The opposition party, the Republican-Socialists Party aim to have this overturned.<\/p>\n<p>We should find out if they are successful no later than on April Fools day \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent government decision has left many locals and tourists alike scratching their heads!
