{"id":3083,"date":"2016-03-14T21:39:22","date_gmt":"2016-03-15T02:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3083"},"modified":"2016-03-14T22:17:48","modified_gmt":"2016-03-15T03:17:48","slug":"cross-island-relay-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=3083","title":{"rendered":"Cross-Island relay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the favorite races, outside of the Cayman Islands Marathon, is the &#8220;Cross Island relay&#8221;. \u00a0I ran this race a few years ago in a team with Julie. \u00a0Had not been in it since &#8230; until this year.<\/p>\n<p>This time around I ran with a bunch of guys from the office.<\/p>\n<p>Of course we all have to be a bit nuts to get up and run on a Sunday morning where it would be much easier to simply stay in bed.<\/p>\n<p>The concept of the race &#8230; wait for it &#8230; is to run across the island \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Thus, we are 6 runners per team and we each run 4 miles (a bit over 6km). \u00a0The race starts in the East End at 6am and finished at Smith Cove in South Sound.<\/p>\n<p>Here I am passing the\u00a0<em>baton\u00a0<\/em> to my teammate. \u00a0I ran leg 4 of 6.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3084\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/12744603_814198795374082_2995724642914504614_n.jpg\" alt=\"12744603_814198795374082_2995724642914504614_n\" width=\"482\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/12744603_814198795374082_2995724642914504614_n.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/12744603_814198795374082_2995724642914504614_n-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The finish line at Smith Cove. \u00a0 This year there were a lot of teams. \u00a0Sure is a popular event now. \u00a0There were 95 teams entered into the race this year. \u00a0We came in at a very respectable 11th place overall and 4th corporate team.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3085\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_1251.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1251\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_1251.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_1251-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The prizes for the winners! \u00a0Note the dark cloud on the back. \u00a0Just before the end of the awards ceremony, it started to pour down.
