Second, its time for the Cayman Islands Marathon which is always the first Sunday of December. \u00a0Its been quite rainy recently so fingers were crossed that we not have any rain on the race day. \u00a0Thankfully we did not \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>At the race packet pickup on Saturday, the day before the race. \u00a0The whole process was done with military efficiency. \u00a0I was in &amp; out in under 3-minutes. \u00a0The organizers have got this drill figured out. \u00a0So many volunteers also.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3059\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3059\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3059\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1143.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1143\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1143.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1143-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The countdown clock was prominently placed showing us how much time we had before the start of the race the next morning. Not much time left to get ready.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3051\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3051\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3051\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1142.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1142\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1142.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1142-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is where we will all be at 5am the next morning for the start of the race. \u00a0The race organizers do the setup in the middle of the night which is quite impressive. \u00a0Pasta dinner (see next picture) was on the balcony at Breezes &#8211; where the &#8220;Pizza&#8221; sign is.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3052\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3052\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3052\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1144.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1144\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1144.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1144-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course the obligatory pasta loading meal the evening before. Had two of these \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3053\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3053\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3053\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1145.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1145\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1145.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1145-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the path we ran, a full 21.1km (over 13 miles). \u00a0On the way back, the massive humidity hit all of the runners. \u00a0For December, the very high humidity as we have in summer, is somewhat surprising. \u00a0There were unfortunately a lot of runners that dropped out and a few who were treated for dehydration. \u00a0It was definitely a tough race for everyone! \u00a0At the bottom of the picture is my pace as recorded by my GPS running watch. \u00a0Fairly constant and as expected slowly &#8230; getting slower as the race progressed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3060\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3060\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3060\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/run.jpg\" alt=\"run\" width=\"478\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/run.jpg 882w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/run-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/run-768x405.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So what happened? \u00a0I finished in a slightly slower time than last year for the Half-Marathon in 1h42 minutes. That placed me 28th overall for over 820 runners. \u00a0Considering the tough conditions i&#8217;m happy \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>On another note, the Christmas lights are out and plentiful. \u00a0This large property in South Sound has decorated all of the palm trees. \u00a0Makes for a lovely sight.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?attachment_id=3054\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3054\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3054\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1152.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1152\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1152.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1152-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This other house is an absolute delight. \u00a0So many lights and things to see. \u00a0this one is defintely my favorite. \u00a0Anyone looking for this place, its along South Church St in South Sound &#8211; near Sunset House. The need for aircon is not as high.
