{"id":2563,"date":"2013-12-17T22:31:37","date_gmt":"2013-12-18T03:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=2563"},"modified":"2013-12-17T22:31:37","modified_gmt":"2013-12-18T03:31:37","slug":"the-sun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=2563","title":{"rendered":"The Sun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sun in Cayman is so predominant in our daily lives, that I seem to forget its beauty and importance. \u00a0Maybe i&#8217;m getting a bit sentimental here, but we are so lucky to have an abundance of it here that we sort of take it for granted.<\/p>\n<p>I read somewhere recently that the Cayman Islands get on average 300 days of sunshine a year; I have no problem believing that.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, so to keep on my sun theme, here are what i think are some really neat pictures I recently took of the sunset. \u00a0The first two were taken from what is becoming my favorite spot on the island ; Spotts Beach. \u00a0Even though the clouds were blocking the sun, the light came though and gave us an amazing show. \u00a0A note about Spotts beach ; the last time I went snorkeling there I saw 8 turtles. \u00a0If you want some awesome snorkeling experience, this beach is worth driving out of town a bit to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4809.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2564\" alt=\"IMG_4809\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4809.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4809.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4809-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4813.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2565\" alt=\"IMG_4813\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4813.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4813.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4813-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Rum Point. \u00a0This is a picture with Julie&#8217;s friend (who has since gone back home) taking pictures of the sunset. \u00a0This picture came out quite well.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4860.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2567\" alt=\"IMG_4860\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4860.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4860.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_4860-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On one of the days, the ladies made a pick-nick at Smith Cove. I joined them over my lunch hour. \u00a0Of course a typical awesome December day ; plenty of sun and calm sea. \u00a0Of course since this was during the week and it&#8217;s not yet peak tourist season, the beach was not busy at all. Gotta love the massive contrast ; ocean\/beach and business attire! This facility will be for &#8220;medical tourists&#8221; from around the world to come to Cayman and have cardiac surgeries at better prices than in countries such as the US. \u00a0 The building of the facility is definitely a boost for the local economy, not just for building staff, but for the island as a whole. \u00a0Medical tourists = individuals who will comes for weeks at a time, which brings in a lot more revenue than for example a cruise tourist. \u00a0In any case, it should be interesting to see how this unfolds.<\/p>\n<p>Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sun in Cayman is so predominant in our daily lives, that I seem to forget its beauty and importance. \u00a0Maybe i&#8217;m getting a bit sentimental here, but we are so lucky to have an abundance of it here that we sort of take it for granted.
