As I always do, I make sure to check out neat places in the evenings and week-ends when possible.<\/p>\n<p>My first cool place to go see was in San Diego. I was in LA for a week, so took all day Sunday to go and see the USS Midway which is at a dock in downtown San Diego. \u00a0The USS Midway is a decommissioned Aircraft carrier. \u00a0She is now a museum. \u00a0I figured I would need +-2h to visit this vessel; \u00a0it took me over 4h in what seemed like 30 minutes. It was sooooo interesting. \u00a0The drive from Los Angeles to San Diego was only about 2h on silky smooth highways,<\/p>\n<p>Here is this massive ship!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2369.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_2369\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2369.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the deck of the aircraft carrier, there were many military jets to see up close.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2313\" alt=\"IMG_2311\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2311.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2311.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2311-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here I am in the Captains chair!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2266.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2312\" alt=\"IMG_2266\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2266.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2266.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2266-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was the REAL value of the visit. \u00a0For almost all the things to see and do, there were volunteers to guide you along and provide details\/explanations. \u00a0That being said, almost all of them are retired military staff ; many of them actually served on this very ship. \u00a0The gentleman below was a pilot who did hundreds of landings\/takeoffs on the Midway. \u00a0Absolutely\u00a0fascinating\u00a0stories.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2358.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2314\" alt=\"IMG_2358\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2358.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2358.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_2358-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here was my ride for the drive to San Diego \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/484835_10151408964466280_416997858_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2320\" alt=\"484835_10151408964466280_416997858_n\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/484835_10151408964466280_416997858_n.jpg\" width=\"493\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/484835_10151408964466280_416997858_n.jpg 640w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/484835_10151408964466280_416997858_n-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next stop. \u00a0 This was my most anticipated visit of my trip. \u00a0For many years I had wanted to visit &#8230; Dealey Plaza, the place were President Kennedy was gunned down in 1963 in downtown Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Here I am standing, in the middle of Elm Ave, at the exact spot where he was fatally wounded. \u00a0 The spot where Lee H.
