It is a road race that essentially crosses the entire island of Grand Cayman.\u00a0 Teams have six runners each and each runner does 4 miles.<\/p>\n<p>The course looks like this. Is starts in the east (left) and runners make their way all the way to George Town along the southern coast of the island.\u00a0 The roads remain open to traffic, but as expected, it was very light on this Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/crossisland.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1937\" title=\"crossisland\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/crossisland.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/crossisland.jpg 574w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/crossisland-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The organizers must have been pleased ; there were 74 teams registered; a good number of them were corporate teams.\u00a0 Start time was at 6am on Sunday. Needless to say you had to be somewhat motivated to get out of bed at +-4:30am Sunday to go running.\u00a0 I guess we are \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 The runners waiting for the start. Even though its 6am in February, it was still a very comfortable 26 degrees at start time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1236.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1935\" title=\"IMG_1236\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1236.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1236-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Julie ready for the start ; she ran the 1st leg which in my opinion is the best one to run ; no sun = less heat.\u00a0 Also, organizers made the race east to west, so all runners had the wind to their backs. Running eastbound would have been a lot less fun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1934\" title=\"IMG_1231\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1231.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1231-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here I am (black back) passing the baton to the next runner in our team. We ran with four of my co-workers and finished a very respectable 27th out of 74 teams. I am very pleased with the results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1250.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1936\" title=\"IMG_1250\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1250.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1250-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All-in-all, an really nice experience.\u00a0 This race is annual and always early February.
