Here is the view of the main turtle pool.\u00a0 The turtles here are simply massive and quite impressive beasts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0989.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1926\" title=\"IMG_0989\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0989.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0989.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0989-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First off, the petting zoo.\u00a0 Here you can pick up small (some up to +-10lbs &#8211; my estimate. This one maybe 4-5 at most) turtles and pet them.\u00a0\u00a0 They are obviously used to it and take it very well. After 30 seconds or so they want back in the water though and start flapping like mad ; that&#8217;s your queue to put them gently back in the tank and pick up another one if you want to pet them some more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0990.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1923\" title=\"IMG_0990\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0990.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0990.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0990-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since it was a &#8220;special day&#8221;, some guy was walking around with a small iguana. Of course I asked to handle him\/her.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_10141.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1920\" title=\"IMG_1014\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_10141.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_10141.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_10141-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No visit would be complete without seeing the sharks in the main pool area.\u00a0\u00a0 I remember when they got these, they were quite small.\u00a0 Some of them are really big now.\u00a0 This one was swimming around &#8220;\u00e0 la Jaws&#8221; with his dorsal fin sticking out of the water. Lots of people around today ; showoff!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0997.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1912\" title=\"IMG_0997\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0997.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0997.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0997-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is Smiley, the resident salt water croc.\u00a0\u00a0 This croc was found on the North Side of Grand Cayman by some tourists in 2006.\u00a0 Yikes, that will spoil your Sunday morning stroll on the beach.\u00a0 Long story short, they captured him and took him to the Turtle farm to figure out what to do. After DNA testing, it turns out that Smiley is a hybrid of two types of crocodiles.\u00a0 Releasing back to the wild a hybrid is apparently not supposed to be done (or so I read), so he is now a permanent resident.\u00a0 Has his own pen, two pools and certainly plenty of food.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_09831.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1921\" title=\"IMG_0983\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_09831.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_09831.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_09831-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here he is smiling for us!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0987.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1924\" title=\"IMG_0987\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0987.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0987.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_0987-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another smiling face was at the Turtle farm on this awesome afternoon; our Premier, the Hon. McKeeva Bush. I find is great to be able to see and get close to political leaders.
