{"id":1638,"date":"2011-05-28T17:02:14","date_gmt":"2011-05-28T22:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=1638"},"modified":"2011-05-28T22:26:05","modified_gmt":"2011-05-29T03:26:05","slug":"we-made-the-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/?p=1638","title":{"rendered":"We made the list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Note: I made two posts today &#8230;\u00a0 see below.<\/p>\n<p>About the list.\u00a0 In Trip Advisor&#8217;s annual selection of best destinations based on user input, Grand Cayman comes in 1st in the &#8220;Mexico &amp; Caribbean&#8221; category.\u00a0 Quite impressive.\u00a0 I am sure that almost anyone who has visited this lovely place will agree with this assessment.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Trip Advisor top list\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/TCDestinations\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a title=\"Trip Advisor top 25\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/TCDestinations-g147237-cTop25-Caribbean.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/TCDestinations-g147237-cTop25-Caribbean.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s the end of May and unfortunately Hurricane season.\u00a0 The ocean water is super warm (nice to swim in &#8230;) and outside its been a scorcher daily for the last month or so.\u00a0 The word on the street is that the Caribbean&#8217;s luck will probably run out this summer.\u00a0 I really hope that we are wrong. In a nutshell, hurricanes &#8220;feed&#8221; on warm water.\u00a0 The warmer the water, the bigger and stronger the storms get.\u00a0 Since we have been having very warm weather (hence warm water &#8230;) since April, it does not bode well.\u00a0 The organizations that forecast these storms have predicted a very active season. Well, here on our little island, with a smaller purchasing power + additional transportation costs, we have been feeling the pain.\u00a0 Here is the current price for regular when I filled up last night.\u00a0 The price is in Cayman dollars of one Imperial gallon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG-20110527-00275.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1640\" title=\"IMG-20110527-00275\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG-20110527-00275.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG-20110527-00275.jpg 360w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG-20110527-00275-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to my calculations, that comes out to 1.60$\/liter and exactly 6$US per US gallon.
