That does not help for water temperatures which ultimately impact hurricanes. We have been lucky in the last two years, no storms whatsoever (in the whole Caribbean); lets hope that continues. However, if this very warm April is an indication, storms may come rolling in sometime later this year.<\/p>\n<p>It it spring time and this tree next to my office is in full bloom.\u00a0 Funny thing I never noticed it before. I think that bright yellow only lasts a few days since you can see there is already a lot of it on the street.\u00a0 Anyone know what this is called? Its spectacular!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_0324.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1610\" title=\"IMG_0324\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_0324.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_0324.jpg 360w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG_0324-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So after work the other day, or maybe I should say, sometime in the afternoon during a workday, our group at the office had a very important meeting and made some critical decisions!\u00a0 This meeting was held at Starfish point.\u00a0 That&#8217;s not far from Run Point.\u00a0 Is that not the coolest office meeting you have ever seen?\u00a0 Boats, sun, sand and a few cold ones on a Thursday afternoon.\u00a0 Love it!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110414-00206.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1601\" title=\"IMG-20110414-00206\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110414-00206.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110414-00206.jpg 480w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110414-00206-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So everything is perfect in Cayman right?\u00a0 Well, not quite! \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 The price of gas has gone up globally and we are no exception.\u00a0 Since its a small island and shipping costs are obviously going to impact the cost of anything that comes here, we are currently paying 5.51CI for 1 imperial gallon.\u00a0 With some savvy math, that comes to 5.60$US per US gallon and 1.42$CAD per liter.\u00a0 Ha &#8230; gas is virtually same price here than in Canada.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110421-00213.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1603\" title=\"IMG-20110421-00213\" src=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110421-00213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110421-00213.jpg 360w, https:\/\/micho.org\/cayblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/IMG-20110421-00213-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, I have wanted to do this for a while now.\u00a0 Its actually quite trivial, but hear me out.\u00a0\u00a0 Those of you who are fans of the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away (I loooove that movie ; Julie cant stand it.\u00a0\u00a0 Willlllsonnnn!) will totally understand.\u00a0 I have never tried to open up a coconut from its &#8220;natural&#8221; state.\u00a0\u00a0 So here I go.\u00a0 The tool: a machete.\u00a0 Hanks used some ice skates in the movie. The &#8220;skin&#8221; is incredibly thick.\u00a0 Quite a protection nature have given this fruit.\u00a0 Is it a fruit? The Caymanians are out in droves camping on all the beaches on the island. I am still not sure where this tradition comes from even though I see this every year.\u00a0 One thing is for sure, its very popular and there are many people on the beach this week-end.\u00a0 Places with lots of shade are the most popular. I can assure you that we have no intention of trying this, especially that at this time of year there are often lots of mosquitoes come dusk.\u00a0 \u00a0 In any case, its not &#8220;real&#8221; camping! \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 People rent a porto-potties, have a gas generator, TV&#8217;s, etc.\u00a0 Its more like taking home to the beach.
